Kyoshi Stephen (5th dan) has been studying martial arts for twenty eight years. Two years previously to beginning karate he studied judo but the past 26 years he has dedicated himself to Seido Karate training under the Head of Seido in the UK, Sei Shihan Roger Thyer Jones.
Stephen has also had the honour to train and take promotions, under Kaicho Nakumura, our founder, on a number of occasions at our Honbu in New York.
Developing his skills and knowledge he has competed in a number of competitions in both New York and in the UK and in 1989 won the English Karate Organisation National Open Kumite Championship.
Stephen along with all his instructors has CRB clearance for teaching young and vulnerable persons and is also first aid qualified.
He currently lives in Aylesbury with his wife Vicki and their two dogs. He says that he is fortunate enough to come from a very close family who also live in Aylesbury so knows the area and people well.
In addition to studying and training in Seido Karate Stephen has taken part in half marathons, triathlons and recently completed a half iron man competition (2 mile swim, 52 mile cycle, and 14 mile run concurrently). These challenges keep him in good condition and allow him to further develop his skills and knowledge. He really enjoys the physical and mental challenges that the events present and uses his experience to pass on to his students.
Stephen teaches at our Aylesbury Vale Dojos (Lacey Green & Fairford Leys ) where you will find a very friendly family atmosphere. A place where students of all abilities can train in a safe supportive & and respectful environment.
Aylesbury Vale Dojo’s are open to all grades from beginner to black belt and of all ages and ability and individual needs are accommodated for.
Kyoshi Stephen teaches in a calm and relaxed manner and has the depth of knowledge to really develop his students in all areas and bring out the best in them.
